"Hi, Bunks! I just called to check on you..." Laura? She hadn't noted the caller ID when she'd picked the call. "Seni, are you there?"
"Laura! I'm surprised! You were on my mind this evening..." Seni finally found her voice
"Someone is missing me!" Laura teased, "Anyways, it's been such a long time. I came into town and it occurred to me that you're still around. How..." Seni didn't let her finish her statement as she interjectecd with an excited shout!
"Are you serious! You're in this town right now? We must see o. It's been how many years since we last saw? Ten?"
Laura burst into laughter at the exaggeration. They'd last seen each other about three years ago.
"I'm glad you missed me, Seni. I've missed seeing your dazzling smile too. When would you be free?"
They agreed on a date and discussed a bit more before Laura ended the call. She expressed her concern at Seni's initial coolness, probing to know what was the issue. Seni dismissed her, saying it as one of those things.
She laid on her bed contemplating whether to get up and clean her makeup while mulling over the conversation.
Did she really want to see Laura? She'd made a spontaneous decision without much thought. She was suddenly worried about what kinda conversation they'd get to have; hope it won't turn out to be a horribly boring time?
Most of her friends thought she could carry on a conversation with anyone but that wasn't entirely true.
Another thing; Laura had asked her if she was still praying. Pray ke? What an odd question. She rarely prayed; one time, CeeCee had 'caught' her praying and taunted her about being religious. Not wanting to be the 'uncool' person in their clique, she grew to avoid all things religious like a plague, prayer inclusive. Morever, she hardly saw the use for it anymore when one could get things by other realistic means...
This brought her to another dilemma: What would they say if they knew she was going to hang out with Laura-the-churchy-girl?
The door burst open, Adora style, (She never entered a room normally, she'd charge in with hurricane-like force). "Hot Akara!" She teased "So, who's that you were planning a date with? I even heard you going on and on about missing him so much."
Trust Adora to always exaggerate and jump to conclusions...
