You're light!

God didn't make you to be obscure and hidden.

That hiding from the spotlight you're doing, it's wrong sister. Step out of those shadows.

I used to say I don't like the spotlight, I don't want to be out there in the open for everyone to see. Along the line, I realized it was a scam. Two things were holding me back; fear and selfishness. I'd say selfishness primarily, because that's what powered the fear.

I was afraid to be out there because I was thinking only of myself. Thoughts like 'What would people say if I flop?' 'I'm not good enough' 'I've not perfected my skills' 'I'm not as eloquent as so and so'... Can you see all the I's there? My focus was on myself. How my self esteem would suffer if I made a grave mistake out there. This selfish thinking fueled the fear of stepping out. I was scared to death of going out there and flopping.

But what does the Word say?

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV

I realized that not only had God not given me a spirit of fear (that I'd be afraid of the spotlight), He'd equipped me with a mind sound enough to be out there and deliver meaningful content; a mind sound enough to give value to others.

I just had to see that it wasn't about myself but about expressing God's love by adding value to others just as Jesus did. Now, that's me shining the light!

The light I have to shine is God's love. That peculiar area where I can thrive is where I can best express God's love to humanity. Me shining the light is me adding value to others lives through the expression of God's love to humanity in form of that my unique talent, ability, gifting.

There's a deposit in you! You have the spirit of God. It's a light, blazing forth with His power, His love, His intelligence. It's not just a deposit, you're the entire mine! For you're one with God. You carry the generating plant! Oh! Light up cities with that gift in you. Leave the shadows, your supposed comfort zone. Blaze forth! You have the empowerment, the enablement, don't you hold back anymore!

Show forth those God colours. The generations of the earth await. You're here to be light! Until you shine forth, you'll never be fulfilled, for a creature knows no contentment or fulfilment until it serves its purpose.

You were made to shine. Do that.

Ah! Be generous with your life. Open up and pour out that light, blaze forth! You've held back to long. Yield to the spirit of God and see how He wants you to find expression.

Maybe it's a book, maybe it's a bakery, maybe it's a children's bible club or a shop at the street corner. There's some way He wants you to shine that light. Stop holding back. The world awaits! Be bold and outspoken about it. No more hiding, for the world is coming to learn at our feet
